A day of Information Visualization

After having read a part of the book “Beautiful Evidence” and after having received good feedback about the class, I finally I got to attend Edward Tufte’s course on Presenting Data and Information at the Manhattan Center, NY. It was a day long course starting at 10am and continuing till 4:30pm. I was joined by my co-worker and we went around 9:30am for registration. At the registration desk we were given four of Tufte’s books:

The green book is Beautiful Evidence.

During the course Tufte talks about various concepts that are already discussed in his books. He picks on few of them and goes into detail, adding more examples and insight to the discussion contained in the book. We were asked to read the text for about 2-3 mins which was followed by his exposition. Overall I liked the course and certainly feel more wise. Now I am more inclined to attend the Book Club meeting on Beautiful Evidenceat my company.

This week has been pretty busy. I was out at the Microsoft Campus in Seattle from Mon-Thu (Aug 21-24) for the WPF Deep Dive event. I returned home around on Thursday around 12am and back in Manhattan for Tufte’s course today. I have certainly had a higher dose of knowledge this week!
